Patient-Physician Communication in Medical Education

Abstract
The effective patient-physician communication is a way for appropriate treatment and accurate diagnosis; therefore its significance is getting emphasized. It is easier for doctors who have effective communication abilities to recognize and solve the patients¡¯ problem, so they can reach the treatment goal which satisfies patients. At this moment, education for patient-physician communication is facing various barriers. The relationship between patient and physician has several environmental factors. There is lack of understanding among medical staffs in hospitals. Moreover, we have few specialists for the medical communication in medical school. To overcome these limitations, medical schools and hospitals need to support and pay attention to diverse ways such as active studying, interaction among the medical societies, and developing various educational programs. Furthermore, we should discuss continuously, to figure out essential curriculum for the communication course standards.
